world première of Stefans Grové’s Double Concerto “Khoisan Prayers” with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra

Anzél Gerber and Ben Schoeman give the world première of Stefans Grové’s Double Concerto “Khoisan Prayers” with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 2013, the illustrious South African composer Stefans Grové (1922-2014) composed a Concerto for Cello, Piano and Orchestra (with narrator) for the Gerber/Schoeman duo. The subtitle of the work is “Khoisan Prayers” and the three movements are based on the poetry of GR von Wielligh. Anzél Gerber will also perform Tchaikovsky’s Pezzo Capriccioso, Op. 62 and Ben Schoeman will play the exciting “Africa” Fantasy, Op. 89, by Saint-Saëns. The Cape Philharmonic Orchestra will perform under the baton of Maestro Yasuo Shinozaki, who also met Prof. Stefans Grové before he passed away in 2014.
