Shostakovich and Bach Concertos in the Musaion

Ben Schoeman will perform with the University of Pretoria Symphony Orchestra and conductor Gerben Grooten at the Musaion Concert Hall on 7 April 2019. He will play the Concerto no. 2 in F major, Op. 102 by Dmitri Shostakovich and the Concerto in D minor for three harpsichords (pianos) BWV 1063 – in collaboration with his two colleagues Tessa Rhoodie and Wessel van Wyk.

This is the Dean’s Concert, presented by Prof Vasu Reddy, and is part of the Faculty of Humanities’ Centenary Celebrations and the inauguration of the new School of Arts at the University of Pretoria.

Dr Schoeman is a senior lecturer in piano and musicology in the School of Arts at UP.
