Anzél Gerber and Ben Schoeman, Woordfees Recital, KykNet Endler Hall Stellenbosch
Anzél Gerber (cello) and Ben Schoeman (piano) have been performing in several countries as a renowned duo. They have won the Ibla Grand Prize in Italy, played at Carnegie Hall in New York, won the Global Music Award for their recording of music by Anton Rubinstein, and recently premiered Stefans Grové’s Concerto for Cello, Piano and Orchestra ‘Bushman Prayers’ (2013, specially dedicated to them and commissioned by SAMRO) with the Cape and KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestras. At the Woordfees 2016, Gerber and Schoeman will give a recital with music by French composers:
- Camille Saint-Saëns – Sonata no. 1 in C minor for Cello and Piano, Op. 32
- Claude Debussy – Sonata for Cello and Piano (1915)
- César Franck – Sonata in A major for Cello and Piano (1886)
