Michael Church in BBC Music Magazine (Vol. 4):
Uys and Schoeman have no trouble in creating a world-shaking Beethovenian Storm in the Sixth Symphony, and their evocation of the peasant dances have a properly earthy conviviality – they authoritatively communicate the harmonic complexity.
Ateş Orga in International Piano Magazine (Vol. 4):
Tessa Uys and Ben Schoeman tackle the First and Sixth Symphonies with compelling artistry…these readings afford unmitigated pleasure. More than once Scharwenka’s vision, comparably the articulation and the voicing of the players, persuades us into thinking we’re in the middle of an unleashed virtuoso orchestra. The Pastoral’s Scherzo, Storm and Thanksgiving are nothing if not fabulous.
Jed Distler in Gramophone Magazine (Vol. 4):
The duo’s remarkable ensemble synchronicity and fervent commitment in the Beethoven/Scharwenka works deserve my highest recommendation and I look forward to further volumes.
John Alexander in Musical Opinion (Vol. 4 – 5 Stars):
The performances throughout are so musical, so fully Beethovenian in the symphonies and so fully acknowledging the subtleties of Busoni’s homage, as to defy criticism.
